volunteering
Do you have two hours to share this month? Be honest. In two hours, you can choose to watch a movie, or go out to dinner, or change the world for a child who may otherwise be lost. Please choose to use just two hours of your time each month to help the children.
There are many ways to help. You could help us to place and manage donation boxes in stores near you. We'll send you everything you need, including a recommended script for explaining your request to store managers. Or maybe you'd like to create and run your own micro-fundraiser on our behalf. Just send us your idea below.
If you're a writer, perhaps you can help with grant writing, marketing, or PR. Multilingual? We could use your help with translations. Let us know your skills and interests below, and we'll let you know how you can change the world in just 2 hours per month.
We are constantly adding “Service Tours” to our program. Some are awareness tours where about one-third of the trip will be to meet and play with the children, and two-thirds will be enjoying the culture of that country. To keep up-to-date with our service tour program, please subscribe to our newsletter on the left side of this page.
Other programs are in poorer regions of the world where children are at extreme risk, and ministries and missions have taken over the fight to keep these children alive.
Think you might like to travel to Africa and help out at an orphanage? We have set up programs with 4 orphanages in South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda. To take a peek at two of the orphanages, click on Welcome Home Africa Orphanage or Buyamba Uganda. We are still in the process of uploading videos for Child of Destiny and Lily of the Valley Endeavor (LoVE) but they are also fine orphanages that are doing good work to help the children. If you think this is something for you, know that you will be required to get the appropriate shots for the trip, and that you may come in contact with illnesses. The orphanages will provide you with the list of things you might need, as well as the rules and regulations for participating at the orphanage. For more information contact us at Volunteer Africa and indicate which of the four orphanages you are interested in helping.
The Orphan Foundation's Kids4Kids Project
The Orphan Foundation announces the "Kids4Kids Project." This is a great program for students of all ages. If you are looking for community service work to show a college how you differ from other applicants, or if you are just searching for a way to give back to the community, you can help our foundation's mission by running a micro-fundraising project, an awareness project, or a volunteer project. We will give you an official student title, as well as give you a chance to win a Kids4Kids Skateboard when you raise $500 or more for our foundation.
To find out more, simply download our K4K sign-up package. You can also contact us by email for more information at: Kids4Kids@TheOrphanFoundation.org.
Volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate
Volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and represent the interests of abused or neglected children who are being cared for in the United States Foster Care system. This interview took place on our local TV show in Southern California, and will give you a thorough understanding of the duties and responsibilities. We met with local CASA volunteers, but know that the program is national. In this clip you will meet 3 CASA Volunteers, the Interface organization that coordinates the activities of the CASA volunteers, and hear strong words of support from Dr. Phil and his wife Robin. You can also find more information at the following websites: Ventura Interface/CASA; National CASA: National CASA Program.
Chefs for Cherubs: Restaurant Owners - Please join us for our signature event!!
The Orphan Foundation announces "Chefs for Cherubs" - Our Signature Event. Chefs for Cherubs, a dinner tour of fine area restaurants, will be rolling out across the country starting in 2008 and continuing through the spring. If you are interested in supporting this wonderful charity event, we invite you to join with many other fine restaurants who will be supporting our cause. This will be an opportunity to showcase your cuisine to The Orphan Foundation’s supporters, as well as to potential new customers responding to our extensive advertising and public relations campaign.
Your participation in this heartwarming event will help us raise awareness for orphans in need around the world. The Orphan Foundation’s mission is to remove the barriers to adoption for the world’s 163,000,000 orphans and foster children. We provide financial assistance to adopting families, as well as medical interventions, service tours and other services to orphans around the world. The Orphan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your contribution is tax-deductible, and usually a lot less than the expense of a small display ad in the newspaper.
How the Event Works: Each restaurant selects one or more evenings to participate. Each restaurant then donates a percentage of its total sales for that night to The Orphan Foundation. The Orphan Foundation will handle advertising and public relations for this event including listing all participating restaurants in PR, newsletters, and on our website.
